Looking at Steelers Selections in Chad Reuter’s Latest Mock Draft

In Chad Reuter’s latest three-round mock draft he has the Pittsburgh Steelers filing plenty of needs. Pittsburgh finished the season with another embarrassing loss in the wildcard round to the Texans. They’re going to need some help from the draft if they want to be competitive in 2026.
Round 1: KC Concepcion/WR/Texas A&M
With the number 21 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, Reuter predicts the Steelers will select Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion to help fix a thin wide receiver group.
Reuter wrote, “Pittsburgh typically waits until Day 2 to find receivers, but Concepcion’s playmaking ability after the catch is quite tempting. If Aaron Rodgers returns to reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy, the veteran QB will likely want a reliable companion receiver to DK Metcalf.”
KC Concepion would bring great after-the-catch ability that this offense needs. He is listed at 5’11 190 lbs, so he may be too undersized to be an outside receiver but could fit in well in the slot. In Reuter’s mock the top three receivers of Tate, Tyson, and Lemon are all off the board by the Steelers Pick. If the draft fell to them this way, Concepcion wouldn’t be a bad pick here at 21.
Round 2: Billy Schrauth/OG/Notre Dame
In the second round (No. 53), Reuter selects the offensive guard out of Notre Dame Billy Schrauth.
Reuter chooses to invest in the trenches once again here for the Steelers. With Isaac Seumalo likely leaving in free agency I like the pick and the investment in the offensive line early.
He is listed at 6’4 310 and a Junior for the Irish. Most current mocks have Schrauth listed as an early Day 3 pick, so selecting him in the second round seems a bit high. With that being said he has all the size needed to excel at the next level. If he can stay healthy despite his injury history he might be one of the last pieces the Steelers need to solidify their line.
Round 3: Drew Allar/QB/Penn State
In the third round (No.76), Reuter chose the hometown prospect in Allar.
It’s no secret that the Steelers have been looking for an answer at quarterback for the past couple of years. The Steelers may consider taking a flier on one of the most hyped prospects entering the season.
Allar was injured early in the year against Northwestern which sidelined him for the rest of the season. Prior to that he had thrown for 1,100 yards, 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Allar still has yet to take that jump to the next level, and if the Steelers want to gamble on a developmental pick, he has all the tools to succeed.
Round 3: Deontae Lawson/LB/Alabama
With their second third-round pick (No. 85), Reuter selected Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson.
Patrick Queen is a potential cut candidate and the linebacker play of last year left a lot to be desired for the Steelers. Pittsburgh is bound to take a linebacker at some point in this draft, this would be a good intersection of value and need.
Lawson is a 6’2 228lb linebacker who earned Second-Team All-SEC recognition this year. He is a great coverage linebacker who is aggressive meeting the ball-carrier in the hole. He has an injury history that may be concerning to many teams which is likely why he is here in the third.
Round 3: Charles Demmings/CB/Stephen F. Austin State
With their final third round pick (No.99), Reuter chose Charles Demmings a corner out of Stephen F. Austin State.
Pittsburgh needs an option outside of Joey Porter Jr. in the secondary. Hopefully a name like Demmings will be able to fill that outside role.
Demmings is 6’1 190lbs and had a promising showing at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. He had a PFF man-coverage grade of 66.9, zone-coverage grade of 54.1 and QB’s had a 38.7 QBR when throwing his way in 2025. With his speed and lateral quickness he is a good mock pick to the Steelers here.
